For any horse lovers here with experience.

What would you do in this situation last night I met Isildur a beautiful but volatile coal black Irish Thoroughbred Stallion who is in his last home............................

He seems as far as we can tell, to have some type of personality disorder as he cannot, and will not, tolerate being handled and at 17 hands incidently he's well aware of his size,Isildur is perfectly capable of sending you packing.I have never met such an impatient animal in all my years around horses
If you even attempt to stroke this monster for longer than 5 minutes he will happily put you in hospital.

His owners have decided to geld him but I doubt even that will change his intractable personality..Which is a damned shame as he can easily clear 5ft 6+

Would you give Isildur a chance or shoot him thats the dilemma they face and despite his aggression they are fond of him... Not surprisingly no one has offerred to ride him yet.

A Horse Lover here and sad to say without experience.... Please explaination give, you say his last home... What does this mean to say, Like no more chances, sounds the pity for the Beauty that you have described. A Stallion of remarkable breeding it seems to me you are given to say. To destroy this Beauty that is so unchained seems oh to be the shame.... I have no comments of knowledge to give ... only ... it would seem that to put-down this Creature magnificient would be utterly the grief. ....this is Connie

no, don't shoot it. I like horses, am inexperienced, but love animals, and will not like it if someone kills an animal.

Alison you havent been near this creature it definately has more than 1 screw loose.smile

However there might be a way of stopping his Irish hash the owners are fans of Monty Roberts "the man who listens to horses",his methods have worked with other problem horses they have rescued so if Isildur responds he might narrowly avoid the gun.

i so hope he can become less of a devil as you call him. It's like people who have been hurt/mistreated or abused, they become conditioned to act a certain way. As do dogs, or any other animal/creature this happens to. As he has been conditioned, maybe there is hope that he can become reconditioned somehow.

We're aware of why he's pissed off I know exactly how he feels, when you trust people and they crap all over your feelings its inevitable that you'll be aggressive to keep them at a safe distance .We hope so but at 6 the behaviour is ingrained and it will take months to retrain him but at least Isildur is starting to meet us 1/2 way

Hmmmm Gobblin does this topic have any reference to Catlin's topic about her horse? The two names sound familiar. Her's was about the horse's progress, yours is about killing it.

We are definately NOT thinking of bumping off Isildur, and I did post some info on this horse's progress so I can see how someone might become mixed up.
